Intra-uterine-insemination  – IUI or intrauterine insemination is a basic procedure used in the first line treatment of infertility. It is a simple procedure which can be done in most centers.

The procedure of IUI involves using spermatozoa obtained from the male partner and injecting them into the uterine cavity of the female at the proper time. It is done as the first step in the treatment of infertility. It is simple to do and can be repeated. However, if there are repeated failures then higher level procedures should be used. Sometimes IUI is not indicated and patient should straightaway be taken up for higher procedures like IVF or ICSI.
